#11 Blog             Greetings from Georgia Veterans Memorial Park As we suspected, we could not  return to Koreshan state park in Estero, Florida.  Most of the barrier island parks south of Fort Myers were either gone or uninhabitable.😢 Koreshan was damaged, but not to the point that it couldn't be used as a placement for strike teams and Rangers who had lost their homes and parks. There was no room for volunteers, at least not for a month or two. So..... The maintenance Ranger (Dan) was very upset that he was not involved in this decision, because Brian was fixing vehicles, tractors, hydraulics  and antique engines. They had a antique machine shop that Brian was going to machine parts to show the public how the machines worked. Brian is very disappointed he is not going back. Maybe next year. But not during hurricane season. Ruth found a listing in the Georgia state park volunteer website for a camp hosting job i...

9/28/2022     #10 Hello from John Prince county Park, Lake Worth, Fl.  We are just south of West Palm Beach, where The Donald lives. We are mostly out of harms way.  No storm surge from hurricane here.  We are under Tropical Storm warning.  We did have a tornado south of us yesterday afternoon.  This morning we were woken up at 5:00 am by very fierce, lightening and thunder. Then we received a tornado warning over our phones about 5:45am, while we were up and drinking coffee.  We put on our coats and walked probably 100ft. to the concrete bath houses which serve as shelters here at the campground, and stayed till the tornado warning was over, about 30 min. The 6:00 am hangout at the bath house.  Tornado warning!                                   We had our fellow evacuees, Sherry and John (from North Dakota)  over for brunch today.  ...

= Hello from the Sunshine State! St. Lucie South Campground Stuart, Florida Its been 6 weeks since Ive blogged.   ("Forgive me Father for I have sinned.", just came to mind) 😈 You Catholic school children should get that. Yesterday afternoon as I worked on my outline it was absolutely pouring buckets of rain, along with thunder and lightening. 89 degrees Today its sunny and 85. I left off, stating that we were looking for winter work, after Tennessee VA campground.  I quickly got to work on that, as our boss Connie suprised us with September 15th being our end date, instead of November 15 when the park closed.   Brian and I put our applications in the Florida and Georgia State Parks volunteer websites.  We had to wait to be vetted.  Long story short, Ruth, (me), found a listing for help wanted, Diesel mechanic, Koreshan State Park, Estero, Fl. We will have volunteer jobs at Koreshan SP, till Dec 31. Free Hookup and Utilities.  FHU ...

Greetings from Douglas Headwater Campground     Wow!  A lot has gone on since I last spoke to y’all.   After Brian and I left sad, neglected, Beartree campground we headed north up Hwy 81 towards Staunton VA to visit Brian’s cousin Julie Devine and her family.      On the way there we stopped for the night at North Creek campground, just north of Roanoke, Virginia.  It was a small unhosted, Forest Service campground that sat along a nice babbling creek.  (FCFS $15 a night with Brian’s military discount) If you are wondering how we find all these camp spots along our adventure, we use an APP called Campendium.  It shows you where you are on a map, then searches out campgrounds.  Log Cabin at North Creek   Anyway, that night when we turned off the lights, I decided to step outside and see if I could see the Milky Way.  As I first looked out into the pitch-black forest, I thought something was ...
