Where did the summer go?  It was just here, then poof, it was gone.  We had a hot humid summer here on the Cape.  Lots of bugs too.  Mind you, not like Tennessee.

We shared our late shift with Deb and Brian Castell who introduced us
to our Atlantic Oaks family of workers.  I don't know if I ever told you how we happened to find Atlanic Oaks Campground.  We met Brian and Deb on a Mediterranean cruise about 15 years ago, and I kept up with Deb over the years on Facebook.  They had worked at Atlantic Oaks during the summer occasionally, and two summers ago they wanted to tour Canada, so she asked us,  "Do You want to apply for a work camping job at Atlantic Oaks"?  And the rest is history.

The summer season seemed to go smoother this year.  Less hectic.  Probably because we were more experianced and less stressed out about the learning curve of a new job.

We found some new hikes, and explored some waterways with our new kayak.

Fort Hill

One of my favorite places, especially in early summer when the wild roses, which are all over fill the air with their sweet perfume.

Out on Salt Pond Bay

In July, when it was so stinkin hot and we couldn't stand it anymore, (trying to conserve electricity, it's so expensive on Cape Cod)we went to turn on airconditioning for the first time after our evening shift, and the AC wouldn't work.  After much poking, prodding, testing wires,  removing TV and Fireplace, cutting holes in walls, etc...  Brian had to rewire the AC.  By 12:30am, he had it fixed!

  Hallelujah!!

Now, Im going to interrupt, our regular programming for this important message.

Im sorry if this is too much, TMI, but,

Mr. Mackey could not pee!

I, Ruth, get woken up at midnight, to be told by Brian, "I cannot pee."
Off to the Hyannis ER we go.
The ER doctor tells us, "As men get older, 3 things grow, their ears, their nose, and their Prostrates."
Long story short, after 12 days, 4 ER visits, and 2 Foley Catheters later.  (it was terrible) A Urologist in Boston figured out it was a UTI and gave him Cipro.  He is better, and will be following up, down in Florida, with a VA Urologist as soon as the hurricanes, Go Away!

Brian while recovering, worked on some art projects.
Recycled Propane Pumpkins.
Once propane tanks expire, our campground recycles them.  They get decommissioned, and then Brian and our boss Katie drew faces on them.  Then Brian plasma cut the designs out.  Painting follows, then dry, put a light in, and you have a glowing Propane Pumpkin.

On the Road Again

We say Good-Bye to everyone at Atlantic Oaks, See You next Year!

Happy Trails to You, Till we Meet Again!
