 Goodbye Georgia Veterans State Park

Weve been here at Georgia Veterans state Park for 6 months.  About 2 months longer than we planned, because of hurricane Ian chasing us out of Florida in October.  We are ready to go.

January and February were warm and lovely.  March came in like a lion.  It must be their stormy season.  The park is green with new spring growth, and the birds singing in the morning make it sound like a tropical jungle.

We witnessed a controlled burn here in the park.  It would have been nice to be warned that it was coming.  Instead of waking up to what appeared to be a forest fire at first.  Luckily we had a 3 day vacation to Amelia island, Florida.  So we were leaving anyway.  We think management should have told the campers this was going to happen because the air quality was awful.  And when we came back 3 days later the fires were still burning.

The management, Coral Hospitality, (not the state of Georgia, has ran this park, into the ground)  We won't workamp for them again.  Its a beautiful park, and could be so nice, but is not managed at all.

This park experience has taught us alot about the good and bad things to look at when it comes to hosting.

We have met some really great campers and made some lifelong friends. That part was great!

Brian met a U2 spy plane pilot the other day. He gave Brian a cool hat.

Teddy became an IT,  about 9 days ago.  Hes been very good about it and only had to wear the Cone of Shame for 7 days.
Sweet Teddy

Probably the hardest part of being a Nomad is managing your healthcare.  My doctors back in Oregon wouldn't treat me remotely anymore.  They wanted to see me in person.  Which I can understand.  So I had to find new doctors in remote South Central Georgia.  I was going to need my prescriptions  refilled.  Especially my hormones!  So I pulled up Google Map of my area and typed in Gynecologist.  Up came Dr. Judy Yeh.  I read her reviews and bio online.  MIT, Chemical engineering.  Stanford, Medical School.  Yale, Pelvic floor studies.  WOW!
I hit the jackpot.  The first thing I asked is,  "How does a young Doctor born in Beleview, WA Stanford graduate end up in Cordele, GA?"  LOVE!  She met her husband at Stanford medical School, hes a Georgian.  And they have a boutique practice together in Cordele, GA.  They recommended a NP, Holly Davis for my PCP.  And I was set.  I'm all up to date on my exams, and labs and prescriptions.  I get my presciptions thru Express Scripts and they mail them to me.

We use a mail forwarding service out of Texas and they forward our mail to us.
We are domiciled in Oregon.  Brian is covered nationwide thru the VA.  I have Medicare and Regency plan G.

FYI  our mailing address is:

We are leaving here in South Georgia in 6 days.  Our next Camp Hosting job, is at a private campground.
Atlantic Oaks RV Resort on Cape Cod.

25 hours a week for each of us, $15 an hour, free FHU, in Eastham, Masschuttes on Cape Cod.  We will be there, May thru September.   We are very much looking  forward to this.  We learned of this job opportunity thru our friends, Deb and Brian Castell whom we meet on a Cruise to Italy about 15 years ago.  Atlantic Oaks is their favorite campground in MA,  and they have Camphosted there.  I have stayed in contact with Deb thru Facebook.  And she let me know there was going to be an opening.  We sent our resumes in and interviewed over the phone.
We are taking 16 days to head up there, siteseeing along the way, 1500 miles.

Happy Trails to You, Till we meet again.

Brian, Ruth and Teddy
